You can now log in to your sendspace account using an OpenID.

OpenID lets you log in to different sites without having to create a new username and password for each one.

OpenID is increasingly gaining adoption among large sites, with organizations like Yahoo (Yahoo users will shortly be able to use their Yahoo id’s as OpenIDs) and Orange (Orange offers OpenIDs to their 40 million broadband subscribers) acting as a provider.

In addition, integrated OpenID support has been made a high priority in Firefox 3 and OpenID can be used with Windows CardSpace.

Today it is estimated that there are over 160-million OpenID enabled URIs with nearly ten-thousand sites supporting OpenID logins. Yahoo!’s involvement will triple the number of OpenID accounts to 368m! For a partial list of OpenID enabled sites, go to https://www.myopenid.com/directory

You can link your account to your OpenID when you register, or add it in ‘Preferences’, in Mysendspace, at any time.

We’re happy to announce that developers can now embed sendspace services into applications, programs, websites, or scripts, regardless of platform, following the public release of our Application Programming Interface (API) beta.

We have purposely designed the sendspace API to be easy to implement and as versatile as possible.

To use the sendspace API (beta), follow the detailed instructions and examples found in our developer guides. We have even prepared working examples in both PHP and C++!

To start using the sendspace API (beta), click on the Developers tab on the main menu for full details.

Now ALL registered users can create and share online folders of files. Give out a single folder link and all the files in that folder become available to the recipient!

Even better, you can change the contents of the folder at any time without having to send out more links. New files are made available for downloading by anyone you have given the folder link to. We even include an RSS feed so that the folders can be monitored using an RSS reader.

You can also organize all your uploads into different folders. Folders are normally private but you are able to share them by changing the folder settings.

Multiple folders were already available to premium users, but now everyone can use them!

You asked to set limits on your files and we listened. We are pleased to introduce a great new feature that lets Max and Pro members set download limits for their files.

You can choose to only allow a certain number of downloads, for example, 10, or set the file to become unavailable after a certain time, for example, 7 days. If you set both limits, it’s whichever comes first.

Once the limit has been reached, you choose whether or not the file is deleted, or saved in your folder for sharing again at another time.

It’s all controlled in MyFiles, where you can already change filenames, description, password etc.

Max and Pro members have so many great administration features to use. Let us know what else you would like us to do to make sendspace even better.
